ANNUAL lock maintenance should be completed by the end of the first week of December. Until then, access across the locks will be restricted.

DISTRIBUTION of the December issue of Waterlines will begin this weekend. The first issue in 2013 will be published in February.

THE Haven Beacons PTFA’s annual Christmas cake sale is on Friday December 7, 3pm. In addition to a wide variety of fantastic home-made cakes for sale, there will be tombola and a grand Christmas raffle. Refreshments, including tasty cakes, will be available.

THE Haven Church meets every Sunday morning at 10am in the hall of the Haven School on Atlantic Drive; all are welcome.

The style is relaxed and informal, with a joined Church of England and Methodist heritage; the minister is the Reverend John Brook. There is a supervised crèche and groups for primary-aged children.

There are other week-day activities for families and also for exploring the Christian faith.

SOVEREIGN Polyphony will, as usual be entertaining the public with their Christmas concerts.

The ladies, who are all fully sighted, raise funds for the visually impaired through their sponsored charity, the Eastbourne Blind Society.

Their programme starts on Sunday, December 9, with a “Festive Fanfare” in the All Saints’ Chapel.

You can also listen to the “Festive Fanfare” on Friday December 14 in Saint Like’s Church, Stone Cross.

Tickets, at just £5 can be purchased from members, or at the door at each venue, from 7:10pm. The concert starts at 7:45pm, refreshments will be available.

On Wednesday December 12, the company will, as usual, be entertaining diners at Simply Italian at the Sovereign Harbour Waterfront.

The concert, “12.12.12”, will be a mixture of Christmas Carols and songs to get the audience into the party mood.

This annual concert, which has been extremely popular in recent years, is free to diners, although contributions are, as always, gratefully received.

MAY 25 has been set as the date for the 2013 Eastbourne Sunshine Carnival and, having won first prize in 2012, the Sovereign Harbour team (SHEACAT) is starting to prepare for next year.
