NHS RETIREMENT Fellowship members get together on Thursday, November 29, when Christmas Spirit will be the theme. Fellowship meetings are at the Blind Society Centre in Longstone Road at 2pm. FILM FORUM meets in the vestry of Christ Church on Friday, November 30 ,at 7pm when a full-length feature film will be shown, followed by a short general discussion. The cost is £2 per person. A CHRISTMAS FAIR will be held at Leaf Hall, Seaside, on Saturday, December 1, 10am-4pm. Entry is free and stalls will include gifts, arts and crafts, games, face painting, seasonal chocolate, handmade bath goodies, tombola and a raffle. There will also be a drop-in Christmas decoration workshop, open to all ages and costs £3 per person.
Entertainment will be provided every hour, on the hour, by Bourne to Sing Chorus, Adele tribute act Helen Ward-Jackson, members of the Bourne Academy of Performing Arts Musical Theatre Group, and Street dance Crew.
Home cooked seasonal food will be available throughout, plus mulled wine and mince pies. All money raised will go towards the Raise the Roof Fund, as the Leaf Hall desperately needs a new roof so it can remain open for community use.
A TOY SERVICE takes place at Christ Church on Sunday, December 2, at 10.30am, when gifts of new toys will be welcomed so Family Support Work can help families in the area have a happier Christmas. FSW will be grateful for gifts suitable for adults too, so parents can also receive a present, as well as wrapping paper. Please leave all gifts unwrapped so they can be matched to the right person. Items are particularly needed that would be suitable for teenage boys. Toys and gifts will be distributed at local Christmas parties in December.
AN ADVENT Carol Service will be held at Christ Church on Sunday, December 2, at 6pm, which marks the beginning of Christmas preparations. There will be seasonal readings and Advent carols. All are welcome. For more information, email email@example.com
THE WALSINGHAM Cell will hold a Thanksgiving Mass on Monday, December 3, in the Memorial Chapel of Christ Church, starting 6.15pm, to mark the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Cell. This will be followed by a buffet.
PANTOMIME will be the theme of two Ladies’ Lunch Club meetings when David Horne and Paul James present Villains and Dames on Tuesday, December 4, and Tuesday December 11, at the Langham Hotel, noon for 12.30pm. Bookings are now also being taken for a Motown Night on New Year’s Eve at £5 a ticket, which includes buffet and a raffle, with all proceeds going to East Sussex MacMillan Cancer Care.
A NEIGHBOURHOOD Panel public meeting for residents will be held at the Bridgemere Centre in Bridgemere Road on Wednesday, December 5, at 7.30pm.The local Crime Prevention Officer will be present for discussion and advice. Refreshments available, admission free.
