THE new management of Treasure Island is holding a public meeting regarding their future plans for the site on Thursday, April 26, at 6.30pm in the Treasure Island Indoor Centre. All local residents welcome.

FILM FORUM meets in the vestry of Christ Church on Friday, April 27, at 7pm, when a full-length feature film will be shown, followed by a short -discussion. The cost is £2 per person. Due to licensing restrictions the title of the film cannot be advertised, but details can be obtained on 749653.

ITEMS are currently needed for a Jubilee Fair at Christ Church on May 26. Good quality products, and any red, white and blue material for making craft items to sell, can be taken to the church on Wednesday or Thursday mornings. Bottles – full ones! – are also required for the bottle stall. Call 749653 during office hours if you need someone to collect anything from you.

SEASIDE Neighbourhood Panel has a public meeting on Wednesday May 7, in St Agnes church hall, Whit,ley Road, starting 7pm. Residents with any concerns about crime or anti-social behaviour in this area are encouraged to attend to air their views. The meeting will be chaired by Jane Dubery, and representatives from the police and members of the local council will be present. IVOR NOVELLO will be the subject of two Ladies’ Lunch Club lunches on Tuesday, May 8 (ladies only) and Wednesday, May 9 (with gentlemen), when Big Band leader Paul Davis and West End singer and actress Jacquie Toye reveal the life, world and music of one of the biggest stars of the early 20th century. Ivor Novello had great success at a young age when he composed the song Keep the Home Fires Burning, before becoming a huge star in the silent films, then a playwright and composer of many popular musicals. The lunches are at the Langham Hotel, Royal Parade, noon for 12.30pm each day and can be booked on 731451.

HAPPYJACKS Soft Play is a new Drop In and Play Group for 0-5 year olds, which has just started at St Anthony’s Centre, 557a, Seaside (opposite Lidl). It is every Friday 10am-noon, including school holidays. No need to book, just pop in and have some fun. LENTEN Lunches at St Agnes Church before Easter raised £750, which has been donated to the Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team. The organisers thank everyone who supported the lunches.
