THIS may be old news now to some but for those who haven’t heard, we’re safe! Our Langney resident football team, Eastbourne Borough has avoided relegation from the Blue Square South.
The presentation evening and disco for the Sports is Friday night (May 4) from 7.30pm.What a good chance for the team to prove they don’t have two left feet on the dance floor!
And if you fancy a sing-song, Karaoke with Dave ‘The Kitman’ Funnell kicks off from 8pm on Saturday, May 5.
DON’T forget the coffee morning at St Barnabas Church (next to Langney Shopping Centre) on Saturday. Cakes and caffeine on sale 10am-noon, along with bric-a-brac.
VILLAGE Praise takes place on Sunday, May 6. It’s a celebration of life in Langney as Langney Community Church moves from Bishop Bell School to the Village Hall in Etchingham Road, starting 10.30am, all everyone. Call 01323 469479 or visit www.lcce.org.uk .
IN FURTHER regards to Langney Village Hall, Langney Area Panel has a table sale there on Saturday May 5, 10am-1-pm. To book a table or to find out more call Joan Waring on 07531 677 199. The cost per table is just £4. Entrance will be free and of course, refreshments and cakes will be on sale.
THE LANGNEY Area Panel held its monthly meeting on Thursday evening last week. A report will be available next week.
SHINEWATER Neighbourhood Panel has also just had its own meeting. On Wednesday last week, Chair Lori and co took to The Shinewater Hub in Lavender Close, on the Shinewater Field. Much was discussed including events taking place at the hub.
A ladies group run by Ruth Mendes takes place on Thursdays at 7.30pm and involves a taste of many different creative sessions. They’ve been running this for three months now and around 20 women attend.
A guidance and information session is run for young people on Friday afternoons. And Langney Wanderers Adult and Youth Teams reside from the Hub too.THE SHINEWATER Fun day will be, well, having fun on September 1. If you’re interested in hosting a stall at this event, contact Shinewater Shaftesbury Centre on 760654.
THE LANGNEY Neighbourhood Panel (not to be confused with Area Panel) has disbanded. Fortunately, a youth panel has been put in its place. The group held a meeting at Bishop Bell School recently and a chair and secretary were elected. The next one is at Causeway School across the pond.
THE SHINEWATER Operations Group, which discusses the future of the district and works on moving things forward in various forms, has a meeting date of May 30 (time yet to be confirmed).

The seven-week course, supported by Eastbourne Homes, is for adults aged 18 and over and runs on Thursdays, 9.30am-11.30am. It starts on May 24 at Langney Community Centre! FINALLY, one exciting piece of news to bring you is something I’ve reported on many a time. And that is the tarmac terror which exists in Milfoil Drive. I have it on good authorityt the whole main road will be flattened and resurfaced in June.
