Down Your Way: Langney

ST RICHARD’S Church, in Etchingham Road, has an Autumn Market in the Church Hall on Saturday, October 13, 2pm-3.30pm. There will be many stalls including jewellery, cards, candles, knitwear, Tradecraft, beauty products and bric a brac. Refreshments and cakes will also be available.

BISHOP Bell Church of England School welcomes back pupils for the new academic year and is delighted to announce it came top in East Sussex for 5+ A* to C grade benchmark.

Uniforms are no longer sold at the school. Instead, Bishop Bell students and parents can obtain items from www.myuniforms.co.uk. You can then either order online, call or purchase and collect your items from Identity in Westham. P.E kit will still be available from the school in the immediate term.

An important date for your diary is the Open Evening at the school on September 27.

TAI Chi takes place at EBFC in Priory Lane every Thursday. The eastern low-impact martial art is a great way of getting some gentle healthy exercise and brilliant for the retired. The class starts at 9.15am.

EYES down! Bingo is back at Langney Sports, every Sunday from 8pm. There’s karaoke with Carey along with a chance to pit your wits in a quiz on Saturday, September 22 at The Sports. The fun starts at 8pm.

And if your diaries not completely full yet, then Did’s general knowledge quiz is the following Saturday (September 29) from 8pm. Don’t say we’re not good to you in Langney?!

NOW, of course, Langney Sports is actually the home of Eastbourne Borough Football Club and after an edgy start to the season in the Blue Square South, some wins would do nicely at this point. Hopefully, an away match in the cup to Waltham Abbey will all a boost. The match is on Saturday (September 22) at 3pm. For deytails on the team or the club, visit www.ebfc.co.uk or call 01323 766265.

DON’T forget you can collect your free British Sign Language DVDs from Langney Shopping Centre on Friday, September 21, and Saturday, September 22.

LANGNEY W.I. holds its monthly meeting next Tuesday (September 25) from 7.30pm. Meetings are at St Barnabas Church in Kingfisher Drive (next to the shopping centre) and guest speaker for the night is John Davey. The theme is ‘Those that can do and those that can’t teach’. There will be a monthly competition and school memorabilia. Contact Langney W.I. President Val on 01323 416491.

FINALLY don’t forget to contact me on the above details if you wish to advertise your local event, group or stories in this column.
