Down Your Way (June 27th): Stone Cross, Westham and Hankham

THE recent Summer Fair held at St Luke’s Church, Stone Cross, proved to be very enjoyable, even if the weather was not of its best.

There was plenty to keep the visitors happy and the church is very pleased to say that the event raised in excess of £2,200 towards Church funds.

A very big “thank you” to all those who helped in the running of the Fair and, of course, also to those visitors who attended.

THE WESTHAM Women’s Institute will be holding their next meeting on Thursday, June 28, in Westham Village hall when members will be able to enjoy a talk on “An English Country Garden” which will be given by Raymond Hale. The meeting starts at 7.30pm.

ON SATURDAY, June 30, Hankham School will be holding their Summer Fair. One of the attractions will be their grand draw with a first prize of £100. Tickets are available from the school.

The Fair opens at midday and runs until 3pm. Lots of stalls and attractions for everybody. Why not go along and enjoy yourself at the same time helping to increase schools funds for a worthy cause.

HAVE you heard of the “Good Companions”?

This is a club which meets at St Luke’s Church in Stone Cross, normally on the second Friday of each month.

The next meeting is scheduled for July 13 starting at 2.30 pm in the parish centre.

Basically the club is a friendship group of men and women aged 55 and over, meeting together for companionship, camaraderie, support and fun.
