A PRE-CHRISTMAS trip has been arranged going from Stone Cross area to Buxton in Derbyshire leaving on Friday, November 30, returning on Sunday, December 2. Staying at the 4-star Palace Hotel in Buxton, the party will be on dinner, bed and breakfast terms and be welcomed on arrival with tea or coffee.

The hotel, built in 1868, is located centrally overlooking this lovely spa town in the Peak District. On Saturday, there will be an included visit to Chatsworth House (entrance included): this will be particularly inviting as at this time of year the house is decorated for Christmas.

Returning on Sunday, there will probably be a stop at one of the local Christmas markets en route.

The cost of the trip is £195 per person with no additional charge for a single booking (number of single places are limited). For bookings and more details call Hazel on 07902 222149.

THE recent summer fair held in Hankham School proved a splendid event. The weather was great and everyone seemed to have had a great time. The event also managed to raise £1,089 for the Friends’ funds. This is an excellent amount and a tribute to the support given to the school and also to the immense hard work of the Friends’ Committee. Particular thanks to Jan Henderson, Pippa Frost and Kate Thompson for their expert organisation and John Harper who kept the afternoon moving along very enjoyably.

Everyone’s help was invaluable to the fair’s success. Please note any outstanding grand draw monies should be sent into school as soon as possible.
