SOVEREIGN Harbour played a part in Eastbourne Extreme over the weekend of July 14/15 by hosting the competitors in the Powerboat P1’s national championships, SuperStock UK and P1 AquaX. Visitors to the Waterfront were able to get a close up view of the boats and their crews before and after the races, which were held off the Eastbourne seafront.

MEMBERS of the Eastbourne East Neighbourhood Policing Team will be holding a street meeting outside Bright Ideas on the Sovereign Harbour Waterfront, on Thursday July 19, starting 3pm.

The informal meeting, which will also be supported by members and officers of the borough council and neighbourhood watch, is an opportunity for you to raise any concerns that you may have directly to the people who can do something to help you, or just to meet them, and introduce yourself.

THE VENUE for the Sovereign Harbour Community Market has moved from the Simply Italian annex to the area outside Pablo’s on the Sovereign Harbour Waterfront.

The market will be held every Thursday from 10:30- to midday. The non-profit cooperative, will sell home made products and crafts, and small collectables. Anybody interested in helping to set-up and manage the market or selling their goods or produce, is asked to contact Sam Sweiry on 479111. SOVEREIGN Ward Councillors’ will be holding their monthly surgery in the annex of Simply Italian on the Sovereign Harbour Waterfront, on Saturday July 21, from 11am until 12.30pm.

The next surgery in the Beatty Café, Beatty Road, will be on Wednesdays from 6-7pm. The full schedule is posted in the Waterfront notice board. No appointment is necessary.

THE “SAVE the DGH” group is asking residents to demonstrate their support, and the strength of feeling they share, by joining them outside the Congress Suite on Thursday July 28 at 10am, before the DGH Consultation that will be taking place inside that morning.

LIBRARY service – join, and collect reservations, free basic IT tuition, write letters, design posters, free Internet access, set-up and use email, free scanning and printing and free help with local council enquiries is available from the ESCC Mobile Office, every Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm in the Waterfront Car Park opposite the Yacht Club. This valuable service is currently under review and, unless it gets more support from residents, could be cut. Use it, or lose it!

HARBOUR Friends is a social group of Harbour Residents, of all ages, both singles and couples, with the purpose of building friendships and generally enjoying life on Sovereign Harbour. “Harbour Friends” meets every Wednesday evening at 7.30 at the Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club; events are open to members only.
