EAST Sussex Hearing Centre will be in Herstmonceux on Thursday July 26 - in the village hall car park 10.30am-3.30pm. Staffed by an experienced member of the centre they will give advice and demonstrate equipment such as amplified telephones, loop systems, alarm clocks and smoke alarms.SA visit will also provide you with essential information on all aspects of hearing loss, free hearing screening tests will be available as well as their hearing aid maintenance and battery service.

HERSTMONCEUX Bowls: Oh dear, three friendly matches this week and three losses; the first was an away match against Buxted, the final score being 72 shots to 40. The second away match against Battle did not see Herstmonceux fare any better losing by 36 shots and the final match, a home match against Gildredge Park, we might have been forgiven for thinking that being at home would give Herstmonceux the advantage but alas no, Gildredge Park 84, Herstmonceux 47.

MG CLASSIC cars summer picnic - Fancy having a look as some very nice classic cars, wandering around a variety of stalls including plants, cake and jewellery as well as the auto jumble stand, well Sunday, July 22 you can do just that.

Tickets at £7.80 for adults, £5.85 children, will get you all this and entry into the Science centre itself with its gift shop, café, hands-on –science centre, discovery among the domes and telescopes of the world in this famous observatory. Included in the ticket price will be a conducted tour of the observatory ( take along your own picnic). Entry is between 10am-6pm and parking is free.

SUMMER Fair in aid of Wartling’s St. Mary Magdalene church is being held on Saturday, July 21, at Convent House, Wartling, 2pm-4.30pm. Entrance is 50p, children free.

Plenty of off road free parking and plenty to do as well with all the usual stalls, competitions and games for everyone and when you feel the need, there will be plenty of room to sit back and enjoy a fine selection of delicious refreshments.

CHURCH services Sunday July 22 and Holy Communion along with Evensong will be held at Herstmonceux church at 8am and 6pm respectively with Morning Prayer being held at Wartling church at 9.45am.

OPEN garden: This wonderful two acres of garden will be open to the public daily, 9am -4pm at Lime Cross Nursery. Wander through the Pinetum display down through to the beautiful lake and then on to the Alpacas who will be watching you watching them and then e enjoy some time relaxing in the café. BINGO: The next bingo afternoon to be held at the village hall in Herstmonceux will be on Wednesday July 25, and we are all invited down there for ‘eyes down’ at 2.15pm for an afternoon of fun and prizes for both lines and full houses. All are welcome whether you’ve played the game before or not you will be made most welcome.

RAY AND Sheldon: Over 60 years of age and wanting to meet up with and make some new friends?

Of course you do and you can when on Friday, July 20, the Ray and Sheldon Club will be holding the last of their meetings in the village hall at Herstmonceux before the summer break.

Non-members are also welcomed for a small fee of £3 which includes your tea as well.
