Down Your Way: Herstmonceux and Wartling - March 14

CHURCH services: On Sunday, March 18, a special Mothering Day Sunday service will be held at Wartling church at 9.45am with Holy Communion (BCP) along with Songs of Praise being held at Herstmonceux church at 8am and 6pm respectively.

MOTHER’S Day Treat: If you want to drop a hint, just leave a copy of this around telling the whole family about the special treats they have in store at Lime Cross Nursery. Lunches, delicious tea platters and a free plant for mum - it’s all there just waiting for someone to give them a call on 833229 and book.

WHILE you are there why not join in the Lime Cross Nursery Children’s Fun Easter colouring/drawing competition. It’s divided into age groups with the fours and under as well as the five to eight year olds needing to collect a free colouring sheet from the nursery and then get to work with their crayons.

The nine to 12 year olds are invited to design their own drawing on a sheet no bigger than an A3 size, using any medium and with an Easter theme in mind.

Closing date is March 31 - all pictures will be displayed at the Nursery over the Easter weekend and judged by special guest and local artist, Caroline Green. Further information on 833229 or, just pop in and have a word with the staff.

THE Walking Club will hold their next scheduled walk on Sunday March 25 with Pete and Sue meeting you at Herstmonceux car park at 10am ready for a run over to Battle for a six-and-half-mile walk from Battle to Sedlescombe. A pub or picnic lunch has been suggested - more details on on 848790.

ON Sunday, March 25, the Litter Gang will meet at two designated points -for Herstmonceux it’s the Village Information Centre with the Cowbeech ‘pickers’ meeting at St Michael’s,opposite Hammer Lane.

All pickers are asked to be on parade at 10am. Anybody interested in helping to keep our villages litter free and tidy would be most welcome, email Stephen@thewillows1.plus.com and, for Cowbeech, mary@dmgordon.co.uk
