BONFIRE AND FIREWORK DISPLAY

Friday October 26th will be a big night for the Merrie Harriers Bonfire society when they celebrate their annual firework display at Cowbeech. It has been a great year of celebration for the British and the MHBS intend to keep up the momentum with a Jubilee Special Year with a professional display of pyrotechnics choreographed to music of ‘The Queen’. As always they will be holding a Free to enter Fancy Dress and Pumpkin Carving competition all with cash prizes. These of course are mainly aimed at the children however; there are classes for the adults as well. Judging will start in the car park of the Merrie Harriers at 6.30pm so don’t be late. The display field itself opens at 6.30pm with the barbecue, hotdogs and bacon rolls just waiting to be eaten. The outside bar will be serving up beers, wines and spirits as well as soft drinks all aimed at getting you in the mood for the main events of the evening. The bonfire which promises to be just enormous this year instead of gigantic will be lit at about 7.15pm with the firework display beginning at about 8pm. The display by ‘Brightfix’ promises to be one of the biggest and best yet with a strong patriotic feel to it. Entrance will be £5 for adults and for those who have reached secondary school age with pre-school and primary school children being allowed in free of charge as long as accompanied by an adult. Last year the MHBS distributed more than £9000 locally and with our help they aim to make it more than £10,000 this year if not more. A very special evening and one which everybody enjoys so please make a note of the date and see you there, you bet.
