GO along and meet Father Christmas tomorrow, Wednesday December 5, at Parklands Infants School, 3.15pm. He will join children, relatives and visitors at their annual Christmas Fair, where there will be stalls, a raffle, tombola and lots of tasty refreshments.
HAMPDEN Park Community Centre in Brodrick Road hosts the monthly meeting of the Hampden Park and Willingdon Trees (Eastbourne Homes) Panel meeting, at 10am, on Friday December 7. This very active committee does a lot for local residents, so do go along and hear all their plans for the community in the coming year.
IF YOUR youngster would like to visit Santa’s Grotto, why not take advantage of this opportunity on Saturday December 15th at St Mary’s Church Hall in Decoy Drive. From 10am till noon Santa will welcome children, at St Mary’s Christmas Fair, which will include gift stalls, books, toys, cakes and bric-a-brac as well as a raffle and a tombola. There will be hot drinks and mince pies on hand, too, plus some festive carol singing.
ON Sunday December 16, in St Mary’s Church, at 3pm there is a service of carols and poems. The carol singing will be led by The Southdown Singers. Mulled wine and mince pies will be offered after the service.
PARENTS, visitors and professionals are welcome at a Coffee Morning on Tuesday December 18, in aid of the Special Parents Group who meet regularly at the Children’s Centre in Maywood Avenue. This group supports parents of children with special needs, and their Coffee Morning is at the Scott Unit at Eastbourne District General Hospital - 10am to noon.

It contains 12 photographs of our lovely park, all taken by local members of The Friends, so why not treat yourself to a unique pictorial reminder of the park through the seasons?
WHEN buying a calendar, don’t forget your 2013 diary, and here is a suggestion for your very first New Year Resolution - after all the mince pies, puddings and cakes, the weekly Slimming World meeting is waiting to welcome you! Lou, who runs the fun sessions, will help people to re-think the way they eat, so it is definitely not ‘just another diet’.
The numbers have grown so much they will now be meeting in the bigger, downstairs, hall of the Broadway United Reform Church in the Broadway, just off Lindfield Road, every Thursday from 7.30pm - and they will even be there on Thursday December 27 if you want to start getting a trimmer waist in time for the New Year.
