Have your say

NOW we seem to be blessed with more spring-like weather, why not take the opportunity to get out more?

Paula Hubens is starting a regular Tuesday morning gentle walk in Hampden Park, meeting outside the Lakeside Cafe at 11.30am for a walk which lasts until 12.30pm - an ideal way to get some fresh air into our winter-weary lungs, make new friends, and admire the flora and fauna that our delightful park has to offer. Find out more from Paula on 07740 899559 or e mail her at p.hubens@btcv.org.uk

READERS looking for something more challenging will be pleased to see new orienteering posts have been erected in the park. There are 20 in all, and the course can be used in full, or you can choose a selection your route. Each one is clearly marked with a letter and number, so t organisers can detail these on the instruction sheet. The route was designed by the South Downs Orienteer Group, and new members are always welcome. More at www.southdowns-orieneteers.org.uk

A LOT of turfing is going on! In addition to all the other stalwart work being done to the Princess Diana Memorial Garden in Hampden Park village, new turf is also being laid, in readiness for the official opening. The turfing is a big undertaking, so the opening date is slightly later than in previous years, but it will be well the wait. The Mayor will officially open the garden on Monday, May 14, at 10.30am.

TELEPHONE scams are very much on the increase in Eastbourne. Be aware and ensure any vulnerable and/or elderly neighbours are told. They have so far been particularly rife in the Meads area, and unfortunately a few trusting people have parted with bank details over the telephone If you have any doubts about anyone who contacts you, call Trading Standards immediately on 01323 463446.
