SPORT has dominated our living rooms in the past few weeks and it will now be prominent in our backyard too as Eastbourne Borough Football Club kicks off the new season f in the Blue Square South, hoping to progress into the Premier Division of non-league football. They start their campaign away to Dorchester Town on Saturday, 3pm. Then on Tuesday (August 21) at 7.45pm, they welcome Bromley to The Lane. SHINEWATER Fun Day is nearly here! I’m so excited! On Saturday, September 1, a host of events and activities take place between noon and 5pm. There’s a bonny baby competition, for ages 0-2, table top sales, fairground rides, a beer tent, a tug of war and a Husky display and even live music in attendance. The day will be ideally situated at Shinewater Park in Larkspur Drive and most importantly, it’s free entry! DO YOU need quality childcare? There’s some available from Crash Pad for children in the Langney district and surrounding areas. School pick-ups are available as well. From 7.45am-8.45am a breakfast club is run from Monday to Friday (£3.35 per session). The after school club is 3pm-6pm (£8.60 per session or £3.35 per hour). Transport is £3 per child. The local Women’s Institute is held at St Barnabas Church in Kingfisher Drive (next to the shopping centre) and guest speaker is John Davey.
