More than 60 dogs were on parade at Eastbourne Mencap’s first dog show last weekend.

Eastbourne Mencap’s Arundel Road home hosted the canine competition with Cobie of Cobie VetCare and Carla, a local dog groomer, judging the contest. They raised £1,600.

Fran, of Eastbourne Mencap said, “It was a fantastic day, the sun shone and everyone had a really fun time.

“Our local MP, Caroline Ansell also joined in the fun and we raised some much-needed funds for our home.

“Thank you to everyone who helped make it a success.”

Paul Durrant, also from the charity, said, “Contrary to popular belief, Eastbourne Mencap does not receive any funding or support from Royal Mencap – the national charity.

“So events like this are key to our fundraising success.”
