Divers examine the wreck of sunken submarine

DIVERS have been examining the wreck of a submarine which sunk off the Eastbourne coast 100 years ago. A team from a sub aqua club in Kent have been exploring the watery grave of the Royal Navy’s Holland V sub.

She was on her way to Sheerness when a tow cable being used to pull her snapped and she sank to where she lay undiscovered until 1995.

Diver Jerry Dowd discovered the wreck, which is now listed as Heritage at Risk.
