The trust that runs the DGH is embarking on a nurse recruitment drive to increase nursing numbers and cut down on agency staff.
East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is looking for around 25 staff nurses (Band 5). The recruitment of the nurses will reduce the need for agency nurses over the coming months.
Alice Webster, director of nursing said, “We are investing in our staff and strengthening our nursing teams to ensure we continue to deliver person centred care in both community and acute settings.
“That means we’re now recruiting Band 5 staff nurse posts to suit newly registered nurses or those looking to change speciality. We have nursing opportunities across many areas of the organisation within both acute and community settings including theatres, surgery, medicine as well as in our intermediate care and community nursing teams.”
Last month the trust said it was reviewing its use of bank and agency staff in a bid to cut costs after it emerged that its planned deficit already had a £5.1 million shortfall.
