The Friends of the Devonshire Park celebrated their 30th anniversary by raising almost £3,000.
Despite a gloomy weather forecast for the first weekend of August, sun hats and sun cream were the order of the day as they hosted market stalls, Punch & Judy, story telling, funfair rides and face painting on the Western Lawns.
The event was opened by the Mayor, Councillor Janet Coles, while Stephen Lloyd MP was another familiar face to show his support.
Entertainment throughout the day was provided by three local dance groups and the Trapdoor Theatre School; musical contributions were by Black Strap Molasses and Eastbourne Silver Band. Adding to the attractions were the Sussex Gold Wing Motor Cyclists and Radio DGH assisted with the PA.
Despite expenses the Friends ‘efforts will have added a significant amount to whatever their next project in support of the Devonshire Park Theatre happens to be.
