LIGHTS for loved ones lit up the Eastbourne Rotary Tree of Light on Sunday (December 12).
The tree outside the Congress Theatre was covered in dozens of white lights as Rotary clubs throughout the town invited people to dedicate a light in memory of friends and family for the 12th year.
It was switched on by Eastbourne’s deputy mayor, Margaret Salsbury. The Salvation Army Band played, accompanied by youngsters from Ratton School Choir.
The ceremony was led by founder president of Eastbourne AM Rotary Club Melanie Adams and Stephen Lloyd MP also attended. At the end of the dedication service Eastbourne College Chaplin Rev Christopher Macdonald blessed the tree and people tied white ribbons to its branches.
Each person who dedicated a light was invited to write a message in a book of remembrance which is placed in Eastbourne Library and on the website www.eastbournetreeoflight.co.uk.
