The longevity of an Eastbourne resident who celebrated her 100th birthday this month has been put down to her daily tipple of sherry.
Marie Ward-Starling, who lives independently in Willingdon, marked the milestone with relatives and extended family on Wednesday, January 2.
Marie was born in Fulham, London, and moved to Eastbourne around 20 years ago with her first husband Alexander Ward. He sadly passed away from cancer.
Ten years later Marie married her late husband Jimmy Starling, whom she was married to for seven years.
Her sister Gwendolyn Steward said, “She has a glass of sherry every day – she always has done.
“She also had two great husbands who looked after her.”
