One of two cyclists involved in an incident on Eastbourne seafront in July where a young girl was knocked over has been fined £135.
In a prosecution brought by Eastbourne Borough Council, George Coulbourn pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates Court to cycling on the seafront in breach of the council’s bye laws.
Little Alliyah Raj, pictured, suffered serious facial and head injuries after she was knocked over by the cyclist as she walked along the promenade with her mother in the summer.
In addition to the fine, Mr Coulbourn was ordered to pay the council’s costs of £80 and a victim surcharge of £20.
Trent Baker, who was questioned by police along with Mr Coulbourn about the incident, was also due to appear but failed to attend court.
Mr Baker’s hearing has been adjourned to December 5 in Eastbourne.
