DESPITE a damp start, crowds flocked to the annual RNLI Regatta over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Sailing crafts of all shapes and sizes took to the sea for Eastbourne’s eighth RNLI regatta at Sovereign Harbour.
The volunteer crews at Eastbourne Lifeboats proudly showed off the town’s new state-of-the-art £2.4 million lifeboat called Diamond Jubilee at the three-day event.
There was a programme of event both on and off the water, including a beer festival, fun fair and live music. People also browsed the many stalls on offer at the food and craft fair.
Mark Robinson, second coxswain at Eastbourne Lifeboat Station, said he was hoping this year’s event would be the biggest and best.
He also said, “Every penny we make goes into the appeal fund.”
