Two charged with possessing imitation firearm

TWO EASTBOURNE men have been charged with a firearms offence after police were called to a report of a fight in Hampden Park.

Kerry Seeley, 42, of Chyngton Close, and Michael Holmes, 46, of Seaside Road, have both been charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

They were due to appear at Eastbourne Magistrates Court as the Gazette went to press.

Police were called to Ashington Road at approximately 11.30pm on Wednesday of last week following a report of a fight.

An imitation firearm was discharged. Five people were arrested shortly afterwards.

A man and two women, who were arrested on suspicion of affray, have all been bailed until February 6, 2012, pending further enquiries.

A 44-year-old woman from Eastbourne was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of affray and has been bailed until the same day pending further enquiries.

Police say a handgun has been recovered.
