Taken to court for beer theft

A 27-YEAR-OLD appeared before magistrates after stealing strong lager from a supermarket.

Kelly Pragnell from Pelham Close, Westham, was identified on CCTV committing the offenceat the Spar in Terminus Road.

She pleaded guilty to theft.

Madeleine Priestley, defending, said, “It’s a straight-forward, low-level, shoplifting, she put the beer cans in a bag.

“She came out of prison and did well but fell off the wagon and has gone back on it.”

Pragnell was given a conditional discharge and ordered to pay £7.69 in compensation and £85 costs.
