A 21-YEAR-OLD ‘predatory paedophile’ was jailed for six years this week after he admitted sexual activity with three young girls he met and groomed on the internet.
Bernard Volk, pictured right, committed the offences in Eastbourne, Seaford and Shoreham and was sentenced at Hove Crown Court after pleading guilty to 17 offences – eight of sexual activity with the girls aged 14 and 15, one of having penetrative sex, one offence of downloading an indecent image of a child and seven of making indecent images of children.
Twelve other charges of sex related offences will be left to lie on file.
Volk, formerly of Eastbourne and now living in Queens Road, Hastings, used social networking sites to befriend and groom vulnerable, young girls before arranging to meet them and then engaging in sexually activity with them.
The images were found on Volk’s computers.
The offences happened between June 2009 and March 2010. Volk was arrested last year and charged in January this year.
Detective Inspector Paul Phelps said, “Volk is a predatory paedophile and he has received a substantial sentence which reflects the serious nature of his offences.
“He preyed on vulnerable young girls and used his considerable knowledge of computers to do this.
“This was a complex and thorough investigation by Sussex Police and we would like to praise the victims for their bravery in coming forward.”
