Police investigating sexual assault on 13-year-old Eastbourne schoolgirl

Police are investigating reports of a sexual assault on a 13-year-old schoolgirl in Eastbourne this morning.

The girl was walking in Seaside at around 7.55am when she was approached by a man who briefly put his hand on her chest.

Police have said that when the victim shouted at the man he ran off towards Wallis Avenue.

He is described as tall, skinny, with dark shaven hair, approximately in his mid-30s and was wearing a black T-shirt with a blue/green jacket which was open.

Detective Sergeant Andy Mountford-Laker of Eastbourne CID said: “This incident has obviously been very disturbing for the victim and we are working closely with her and her family to establish full details and trace the man.

“We do not believe that the man said anything to the victim and he quickly ran away when she challenged the behaviour.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and may have witnessed a man matching the description.”
