The body of a woman was found in a burning Volkswagen car in Rusper Road, Ifield, near Crawley, on Friday (March 13). This was later identified as that of Janet Müller, a 21-year-old University of Brighton student from Eastbourne.

Detective Chief Inspector Karen Mizzi of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said, “I am appealing for information from anyone who may have seen a grey Volkswagen Jetta in Rusper Road, Ifield or in the area.

“Officers are returning to the scene a week after the murder and will be talking to people and just asking them to stop for a moment to think about whether they were in the area at the relevant time and whether they saw this car or anyone acting suspiciously.”
