A THIRD man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a teenage girl from Hailsham.
Police were hunting for two suspects after the 17-year-old girl was held down and raped by two men as she walked near playing fields in St Leonards-on-Sea on January 14.
The victim had been staying at her boyfriend’s house in the town, when she went out to get some fresh air shortly after 11pm on Friday night.
She was approached by two men on a footpath near the Baldslow playing fields, as she turned into Harrow Lane from The Ridge. The men shouted at her before one offender punched her to the ground while the other raped her.
The girl reported the attack the next day after she returned home and spoke to her mother.
Three men were later arrested after a vehicle was stopped by officers in St Leonards late on Tuesday night (February 1).
Two of the men, aged 20 and 25, from St Leonards, were both arrested on suspicion of rape.
The other man, a 20-year-old, also from St Leonards, was arrested on suspicion of money laundering but then further arrested on suspicion of rape.
All three suspects have been released on bail until March 24 pending further enquiries.
