A man has been arrested after locking himself in his house brandishing a gun.
The 30-year-old is in police custody after being arrested in the eary hours of this morning (Wednesday) on suspicion of making threats to kill and firearms offences.
Officers were called to his home in Linden Close at around 9.25pm last night but a tense stand off lasted until 3am today, when he was arrested by specially trained policemen. He was found to be carrying an air rifle.
No one was injuried and there were no threats made to the public.
Inspector Rachel Barrow said, “I would reassure the community that this is an isolated incident and members of the local community should not be concerned.
“Through effective responses and negotiation the male has now been arrested and remains in police custody today where detectives are continuing their investigation.”
