Police are seeking witnesses after two dog walkers were assaulted in Eastbourne on Sunday afternoon (November 16).

A 41-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were going home after walking their dogs around 4pm when they were approached by a man and woman known to them in Greenway.

After some words were exchanged a scuffle started.

The man suffered a cut and bruising on his forehead and a cut under his eye after he was forced to the floor by the other man. The woman suffered scratches to her face and was pushed into the road, forcing traffic to stop.

Response investigator Tony Brinnand said, “Please contact us if you saw the incident or have any information which could help with our investigation.

“We would particularly like to speak to a man who was driving a small blue or grey car, possibly a Volkswagen Golf, who helped the victims.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 with the reference 0959 of 16/11.

Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
