An elderly woman’s purse was snatched in a ‘cowardly’ attack in Eastbourne.

Police are seeking witnesses after an 84-year-old woman was approached by three men in their early 20s.

One grabbed her bag and stole her purse before all three fled the scene.

The incident occurred yesterday (November 10) around 5.35pm at the pedestrian precinct in Terminus Road.

The three suspects ran off along Cornfield Road towards the memorial roundabout.

All were wearing dark clothing, and one was dressed in a hoodie. The brown fabric purse stolen by the group contained money and bank cards.

PC Pete Adsett, investigating, said, “This was a particularly nasty and cowardly attack on a vulnerable elderly lady which left her very distressed.”

Anyone who saw what happened or knows the men involved should call Sussex Police on 101, with the reference 1275 of 10/11.
