The following are court results from Hastings Magistrates’ Court which covers the Eastbourne area from July 20 - 27.

July 20:

Paul Brooks, 41, of Foxglove Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a breath specimen for analysis when required to do so by police. The offence took place at Eastbourne on July 2. He was fined £300 and banned from driving for 17 months.

Robert Ruardy 51, of Seaside Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to a charge of theft by employee in stealing three cars, a set of vehicle trade plates, a dealership stamp and a set of Vauxhall pricing signage from John Macadam Way, Hastings, between May 1 and June 2. He also pleaded guilty to a further charge of false accounting at Hastings on June 2. The court made a community order with a requirement of 180 hours of unpaid work.

Shane Middleton, 37, of Coulson Grove, Deal, Kent, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating her. The offence took place at Eastbourne on May 22. The court made a community order with a requirement of 150 hours of unpaid work. Magistrates also issued a restraining order.

July 26:

Kimberley Sweetman, 22, of Telford Lane, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to driving on the A265 at Burwash, on February 19, without due care and attention. She was fined £110 and her licence endorsed with six penalty points.

July 27:

Callum Brooks, 31, of Groveley Road, Bournemouth, Dorset, pleaded guilty to driving while above the drink-drive limit. The offence took place at the Pevensey Service Station, Bexhill Road, Pevensey, on July 8. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 59 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £500 and banned from driving for one year.

Christopher Hill, 61, of Lowther Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Ka on Sevenoaks Road, Eastbourne, on July 10 while over the drink-drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 40 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £150 and banned from driving for one year.

Darren Johnson, 47, of Waterloo Road, Wimborne, Dorset, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Focus on Vine Square at Eastbourne on July 9 while more than twice over the drink-drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 97 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. The court made a community order with a requirement of 100 hours of unpaid work and banned him from driving for two years.

Charlotte Spain, 42, of Moray Road, London, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle on Brassey Avenue, Eastbourne, on March 16 with cocaine in her bloodstream. She was fined £200 and banned from driving for 12 months.

Andrew Williams, 40, of Midhurst Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting a woman by beating her. The offences took place at Eastbourne on June 24 and July 9. He was fined a total of £150.
