The following are court results from Hastings Magistrates’ Court which cover the Eastbourne area from February 24 - February 25.

February 24:

Stephen Borst, 30, of Shackleton Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer. The offence took place at the Hammonds Drive Custody Centre on February 9. The court made a community order with a requirement for 100 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £50 compensation.

Lianne Carson, 29, of Mulberry Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to stealing four cans of lager, two pasta meals and a birthday card, worth £17.69, from McColls, at Holly Place, Eastbourne, on January 31. She was fined £80 and ordered to pay £17.69 compensation.

Eduard Magdil, 29, of Granville Road Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle, on the forecourt of Kings Drive petrol station, on January 1, while nearly three times over the drink-drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 102 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance. He was fined a total of £370 and banned from driving for two years.

Louis O’Conner, 26, of Macquarie Street, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to causing £520 damage to a glass window at London and County on February 9. The court ordered him to pay £520 compensation.

Susan Wetton, 47, of no fixed address, was sentenced to prison for 12 weeks, suspended for a year, after pleading guilty to driving a vehicle at Willingdon Drove, Eastbourne, on February 6 while nearly four times over the drink-drive limit. She gave a breath alcohol reading of 131 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. She was also fined £400 and banned from driving for 30 months.

Michael Whiteman, 24, of Solent Crescent, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle on the A2270 at Polegate on February 7 while more than twice over the drink-drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 97 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £350 and banned from driving for two years.

John Stone, 27, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. The offence took place at Italian Gardens, Eastbourne, on February 10. He was given a one year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £10 compensation.

February 25:

Io Cheong, 54, of Orpington, Kent, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour at Terminus Road, Eastbourne, on October 25 last year. The court made a community order with a requirement of 200 hours of unpaid work.

Wang Bing Liu, 46, of Terminus Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour. The offence took place at Terminus Road, on October 25 last year. The court made a community order with a requirement of 250 hours of unpaid work.

Richard Phelps, 50, of Granville Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting women by beating and a charge of assaulting a police officer. The offences took place at Etchingham Road, Eastbourne, on January 30. The court made a community order with an alcohol treatment requirement and ordered him to pay £180 in compensation.
