The following are court results from Hastings Magistrates Court covering the Eastbourne area from December 11 - December 18.
Carl Sargent (aged 33), of Bowley Road, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault by beating. The offences took place at Hailsham on September 13. He was given an 18- month conditional discharge.
Scott Austin (aged 21), of Eastbourne Road, Pevensey Bay, pleaded guilty to driving a Hyundai vehicle at Queens Gardens, Eastbourne, on November 28 with no insurance. He was fined £120 and had six penalty points put on his driving record. Jamie Campbell (aged 30), of Broom Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to stealing aftershave, an electrical item and a knife, worth £115 from Tesco at Hastings on November 27. He was given a nine month conditional discharge.
Dominique Carlin, (aged 35), of Pensford Drive, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Puma on Lyholm Road, Polegate, on October 1 while over the drink drive limit. She was fined £100 and banned from driving for 29 months. The court also made a community order with an alcohol treatment requirement. Jake Hill (aged 26) of Ringwood Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Astra on Arundel Road, Eastbourne, on November 28 while twice over the drink drive limit. He gave a blood alcohol reading of 71 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £120 and banned from driving for 19 months. James Moureau (aged 27), of Hyde Gardens, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating. The offence took place at Eastbourne on November 26. The court made a community order with a requirement to participate in a domestic abuse programme and complete 60 hours of unpaid work. Russell Young (aged 24), of Mill Road, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis to police. The offence took place at Hailsham on November 28. He was fined £300 and banned from driving for 20 months. Sean Rowson (aged 20), of St Aubyns Road, Eastbourne, was sentenced to seven weeks in a young offenders’ institution for failing to comply with a community order with an unpaid work requirement. The community order was made in September for shoplifting offences.
Reuben-James Scott (aged 29), of Whitley Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Focus, at North Street, Hellingly, on November 6, while over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 46mg. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £120 and banned from driving for 13 months. Michelle Touhy (aged 23), of Peartree Lane, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer. The offence took place at Princes Road, Eastbourne, on October 13. The court made a community order with an alcohol treatment requirement and imposed a 20-day curfew with electronic monitoring.
Colin Siggs (aged 46), of Beachy Head Road, Eastbourne, was found guilty of assault by beating. The offence took place at East Dean on June 17. The court made a community order with a requirement for 120 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £1,000 compensation.
