THE FIRST ever wedding will take place at Eastbourne Bandstand next month.
The wedding of Simon Maurice and Julia Rolls, from Ninfield, will take place on July 15.
This comes shortly after Eastbourne Bandstand underwent maintenance work. Last month the groom Simon said he had seen the iconic 1930s building covered in scaffolding but was confident it would be finished.
And earlier this month it reopened ahead of schedule so there will be no hitches on the big day.
The venue became licensed for wedding ceremonies last year and three weddings are already booked in for this summer.
There will be weddings in July, August and September with the last being the lucky winner of last year’s wedding competition.
The winner will receive their grand prize of holding their ceremony at the Bandstand, along with a wedding night at the Grand Hotel, hair by Cutting Edge, a Honeymoon in Dolly the VW Campervan courtesy of Eastbourne Holiday Campers, and a bridal dress and photography by local photographer Kevin Sharpe.
Cllr Neil Stanley, Eastbourne Borough Council cabinet member for tourism, said, “The Bandstand is such an iconic venue and so popular for wedding photographs, that becoming a licensed wedding venue was an easy decision.
“With seating for up to 600 in the arena, it’s a great option for large weddings and with a fantastic stage already in place and a licensed bar, it really is ideal. We are delighted to welcome our first wedding and wish the happy couple a wonderful day and a long and happy marriage.”
Eastbourne Bandstand is available to hire for weddings, civil partnerships, naming days and renewal of vows.
The venue hire starts at £250.
