Pursuing his love interest on his bike paid off for Ivor Weyland, who this month celebrated 60 years of marriage to his wife Rita.
Ivor Weyland met his future spouse at a dance when they were teenager. He followed Rita home on his bike so he could speak to her.
That was several decades ago and since that meeting love blossomed for the pair, who went on to get married on September 5, 1953.
Ivor, 84, worked for several county councils during his career in the engineering field and became a chartered mechanical engineer.
Rita, 80, was a qualified seed analyst.
The pair, who have six grandchildren, lived East Anglia and Kent before moving to Eastbourne in 1978.
The couple often used to come to the coast for a holiday and wanted to live by the sea.
They celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary with tea at the Grand Hotel , joined by members of their family.
Asked the secret to a long and happy marriage Ivor said it was down to perseverance and jointly coping with any problems that came their way.
