Councillor Mike Thompson has been elected as mayor of Eastbourne for a second year and said he is looking forward to meeting even more people this year and raising money for good causes.
The 71-year-old was re-elected at the annual meeting of Eastbourne Borough Council on Wednesday (May 8).
Cllr Thompson said he appreciated being re-elected, adding, “I enjoyed the first time and meeting so many new people, organisations, large and small, and have been very happy to support my local charity, Lark in the Park. We raised £12,000 and I’m so pleased we’ve been able to help those young people with learning difficulties.
“Next year I’m looking forward to meeting even more people, making fresh acquaintances with the people I’ve met already and in addition not working for one but two charities.”
His chosen charities for the year are Matthew 25 Mission and Chloe’s Fight for Sight.
