DEMELZA Hospice Care for Children is on the hunt for enthusiastic volunteers from Hailsham to help launch a new Friends of Demelza group in the town.

The charity runs a team of community nurses offering hospice care in the homes of families of those with life-limiting illnesses across East Sussex and West Kent, from its centre in Magham Down.

It now wants to set up a fundraising group in Hailsham and is looking for people from all walks of life to help lend a hand at fundraising events.

“If you only have a little spare time, or if you have lots, the fun of working together on fundraising projects with such friendly people is both worthwhile and enjoyable”, said volunteer Pam Robinson.

“We are looking for people to come on board - as many people as possible. There is such a wide number of people in Hailsham looking to do things.

“We will act like a little unit in the community that will feed funds onto our fundraising co-ordinator

“There are always little things that need to be done even if you’ve just got half an hour on Saturday morning free, we just need a team we can call,” said Mrs Robinson.

There will be a meeting to form the new group on Wednesday February 16 at 2.30pm at the Demelza shop in Hailsham High Street.

Anyone interested can go along to find out what it is all about, without any obligation. For more details call Sue on 01323 840797 or Pam on 01323 844020.
