Police are growing concerned for a missing man seen leaving Eastbourne by train yesterday morning (February 18).

Ian Burchfield, 50, from Littlehampton, had been discharged from hospital in Eastbourne at around 10.40am the same day.

CCTV shows him travelling on a train from Hampden Park station at 11.30am and getting into Worthing at about 1.25pm.

However, he has not arrived at home in Littlehampton and no-one has heard from him.

While Ian is no longer thought to be in the Eastbourne area, police hope another rail passenger may have seen him leaving Worthing station at around 1.30pm.

PC Heather Mackay said, “We are growing very concerned for Ian as he has suffered with mental health problems and has no phone on him. He has some cash and we know he has used some of this to catch the train.

“He caught the train from Hampden Park, changed at Eastbourne and Brighton, before leaving Worthing station at 1.30pm.

“He was wearing a camouflage jacket, jeans, trainers and a deerstalker hat. We are urging anyone who has seen him or knows where he is to contact police on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 1419 of 18/02.”
