Eastbourne Neighbourhood Policing Team will be helping Community Speedwatch to recruit more volunteers during Speed Awareness Week between Monday, November 17 and Sunday, November 23.
The Community Speedwatch initiative is made up of a group of volunteers who carry out speed checks, where speeding is most prevalent, in the Eastbourne area. Volunteers are trained by Sussex Police and operate under a police approved code of practice at sites selected by the volunteers and risk assessed by the police.
Sergeant Edward Ripley said, “During speed awareness week we really hope to encourage local residents to join the Community Speed Watch Scheme in Eastbourne. We do all that we can to address speeding in the area, but we really do rely on the public to identify the most problematic drivers.
“If you would like more information on Community Speedwatch or if speeding is a problem in your neighbourhood and you want to help then please come and see us at the following locations: 10am to 3pm on Monday, November 17 at Tesco Store, Lottbridge Drove, 10am to 3pm on Tuesday, November 18 at Asda Store, Crumbles Retail Park or 10am to 3pm on Friday, November 21 at the Arndale Centre, Eastbourne.”
