What's worse; bias, or walking by on the other side?
SO the BBC is concerned about protecting its impartial reputation. Isn't it a bit late for that?
In its wisdom the BBC has decided that it is more concerned not to be seen to be unbalanced in its coverage, than it is about the mass humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The position has been condemned by religious leaders, politicians of all parties and charities. Thousands of people picketed the BBC offices in London and Glasgow over the weekend to protest.
ITV, Channel 4 and Five have all made the opposite decision and will show the appeal this week, and Sky are still considering it.
I don't want to bang on about the liberal BBC bias, that's recorded elsewhere.
But isn't the point here that this is about doing the right thing for the tens of thousands of innocent civilians that are caught up in this mess?
Thousands have been made homeless, and tens of thousands are enduring immense suffering, lack of water, food and medical facilities.
People aren't stupid, and the BBC shouldn't treat them as if they were. The man and woman in the street can distinguish between speaking up for those who are suffering, and taking a political stance.
And surely the point is that this appeal is being run by the Disaster Emergency Committee. No-one is accusing that organisation, run by charities, of having a political agenda - they are doing what they do simply because there is a desperate need. It's not as though it's the BBCs own appeal!
I hope the BBC is big enough to change its mind on this one.
New buses.
It's nice to have some new buses on the streets. Stagecoach have already invested 1.5 million by putting the new vehicles out there, and they look superb.
Of course what really matters are the new routes which go live on March 8 - that's when we can really see if the deal that was done to take over the bus company will be good for Eastbourne.
Have a great week friends!
