Luckily the sun has been shining on Eastbourne tennis week so far.
The event, along with Airbourne, is one of the main attractions on the town's calendar.
Airbourne has just had the welcome news that its coffers have received an 8,000 boost - and Eastbourne Hospitality Association has promised to do a bucket collection during the four-day show.
Love it or hate it, there is currently nothing on offer that has the pull of Airbourne for the crowds and it would be a huge blow to the town's tourist industry if the airshow were to be scrapped next year.
Similarly, the tennis - which this year has been expanded to welcome male players for the first time - sees visitors to Eastbourne spending their cash in the town's restaurants, pubs and shops, and nets the council plenty of free coverage in the national newspapers.
There were rumours last year the Eastbourne tennis would be no more, but the LTA has backed the town which is a firm favourite with players thanks to its pristine grass courts and laidback atmosphere.
There aren't many towns of this size that can boast a top sporting event which makes headlines around the world and features the very best players. Let's hope the council continues to give the tournament its full backing.
Keeping the expanded tournament in Eastbourne - and encouraging even more top players here - should be a high priority.
