Comedian Griff is spotted in Alfriston

A well-known comedian, writer, actor and television presenter has been filming in Alfriston .

Griff Rhys Jones was in the village last week,shooting scenes for a new travel show, due to be aired on ITV.

The episode of the yet-to-be-named programme is 
said to be particularly 
focusing on the South Downs area.

A number of people have taken to Twitter to share their experiences of filming with the Welshman.

Darren Greenfield, a sheep farmer in Alfriston, said, “So, week tomorrow I will be filming with Griff Rhys Jones about #sheep #southdowns #shepherds.”

Daren Topmod also wrote the social media site, saying, “Filming with Griff Rhys Jones for ITV #uponthesouthdowns #brightonmods.”

Alfriston Events Team member Sylvia Daw, who 
was walking through the 
village when she spotted 
Griff, decided to stop for a chat.

They sat together on the bench outside the village 
shop.

She said, “He was really nice and very chatty.”

She told him about some of the upcoming village events such as the flower show and Sussex Day in the hope he might decide to pop down if he was in the area.

Several other villagers also turned up and asked to have their picture taken with him, which the presenter and comedian agreed to.

Griff Rhys Jones is a 
regular on British TV screens, presenting shows such as 
‘The Great Welsh Adventure’, ‘Not the Nine O’Clock News’ and ‘It’ll Be Alright on the Night’.
