EASTBOURNE Swimming Club has a launched a partnership with primary schools.
After the success of last year’s school’s swimming project for Langney Primary school, the swimming Club was delighted to be able to run a second project, for other local primary schools as well as Langney.
Ian Woodward, teacher at the swimming club, said, “We were very pleased to be able to renew our partnership with Langney Primary School as David Evans and his team have been very enthusiastic and supportive of the project.
“This time though we wanted to aim at teaching able swimmers to swim faster and then let them try a swimming gala to give them the complete competitive swimming experience, all without any cost.”
Eastbourne’s MP, Stephen Lloyd came along to see the project in action and said, “I really enjoyed my visit to Eastbourne Swimming Club.
“The schools initiative they’re doing is tremendous. As someone who grew up by the Indian Ocean I learnt to swim at a very young age, so I am absolutely delighted the club is offering similar opportunities to local children.”
Pupils were invited from eight local schools and 25 swimmers attended the lessons at the Sovereign Centre swimming alongside club members in five structured sessions, taught by seven experienced teachers.
