It is amusing to watch those old TV programmes from the 1960s or later, predicting the shape of things to come.
They are nearly always hopelessly and comically wrong.
The truth is it is difficult to predict a year ahead, let alone decades, so I’m not going to give you any firm predictions for outcomes in 2014.
But I can perhaps say with some certainty that my postbag from Polegate will feature the delivery of health services locally, including of course the range of services available at the DGH in Eastbourne.
And as we say farewell to 2012, I cannot think of Polegate without thinking of my good friend and colleague Roy Martin, whom we lost this year.
At least, at 86 and active to the end, he had a good innings. It was nice of the town council to dedicate a street to him – Roy Martin Way.
But now Christmas beckons, a time to sit back and relax with friends and family.
So may I just wish all my constituents in Polegate around a very happy Christmas and a peaceful and satisfying 2013.
