A nine-year-old boy was hit by a car in Eastbourne town centre at the weekend.

Police said that at 3.23pm on Sunday May 22 a blue Ford Focus car, driven by a 62-year-old man from Eastbourne, and the young pedestrian on foot were in collision in Grove Road.

The boy, from Ewell, Surrey, suffered slight injuries and was treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.

He was not detained. The car driver was unhurt.

Officers say the collision occurred after the boy had got out of a car to post a letter.
