Western Lawns - hosting Eastbourne Fiesta

EASTBOURNE chefs are being invited to cook up a storm on the Western Lawns as part of the town’s new Fiesta event (May 28-29).

Eastbourne Fiesta will bring together a fusion of cultures for a free two-day event - with live music, a mini beer festival and live cookery demonstrations.

Thai Terre will be demonstrating Thai cookery on the Sunday of Fiesta but organiser Eastbourne Borough Council is putting out a call to budding young chefs and experienced restaurateurs to use the event to show off their signature dish.

Eastbourne Borough Council events development manager Mike Marchant said, “Eastbourne Cultural Communities Network (ECCN) do a great job at joining many of the town’s cultural clubs and societies together and we are pleased to be working alongside them to stage a packed weekend at the end of May.”

A limited selection of local cask ales will be racked and cooled for Fiesta visitors to enjoy, as well as cask ciders from The National Cider Collection. Ale lovers will have the chance to vote for their favourite in the Beer of the Festival awards as well as take the Mystery Ale Taste and sample one of the ales blind.

Other Fiesta highlights will include a mini Pride with BourneOut taking to the stage with a drag queen, transsexual magician, dancers, an evening barn dance and a chance to try the news fitness craze Zumba.

A line up of bands will provide the soundtrack to the weekend from the Fiesta stage with visitors invited to enjoy music from across the globe, including Smugg Jam, Ragati String Band, ‘Cut the Shuffle’, Pentacle Drummers, and many more.
