A SUSSEX charity which supports hundreds of people in the Eastbourne area is appealing to the public’s generosity in its fundraising for a new minibus.
The Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus urgently needs transport for the charity’s new social enterprise SASPIRE.
SASPIRE is based at the charity’s head offices in Gun Hill, near Hailsham, and provides valuable work experience for disabled adults, and prepares them for the workplace.
Now it has teamed up with Eastbourne AM Rotary Club to launch a lottery.
The two organisations are hoping to sell up to 10,000 tickets, priced £1 each, by the end of June.
First prize is £500 cash. SASBAH and Rotary AM work closely – the Rotary club funds an annual weekend away for members of the association and their families called Breakaway.
They have also funded the charity’s Christmas party and helped with other projects.
Rom Sanglaji, general manager, said, “The need for a new minibus is very urgent. People come to our offices from all over Sussex, but do desperately need help getting there.
“We do have a very ageing minibus at present but we must buy a new one soon. We can’t do that without the funding, it’s critical in making a difference to disadvantaged people’s lives.”
Rotarians are being asked to sell tickets in the coming months, and SASBAH will be asking its supporters to do the same.
Anyone who would like to help or buy tickets should call SASBAH on 01825 873045.
