A charity’s minibus was damaged by vandals twice over the Easter weekend.
The rear windows of the Eastbourne and South Wealden MS Society’s vehicle were smashed when stones were lobbed over a wall into a secure parking area at Shinewater Court, Milfoil Drive, where the vehicle is left overnight.
The first smashed window was discovered on Easter Monday (April 6), and when a volunteer driver returned on Tuesday morning the second window was found broken (April 7).
The society reported the damage to the police.
The minibus is used to transport local people with MS to the society’s various social activities through the week.
The damage kept the vehicle off the road for several days while repairs took place.
Branch chairman Peter Austin said, “It was such a pointless act. The cost of replacing the windows will be covered by our insurance policy, but we are unable to recover the cost of alternative transport for our members during the days it was off the road. Vandalism of any kind is regrettable, but it’s particularly sad when it is aimed at a charity supporting the disabled.”
