TWO charities have benefitted from the support of Johnston Press South, Eastbourne Sovereign Rotary Club and Lion Hotels.

Cruse Bereavement Care for East Sussex and the Children with Cancer Fund – based in Polegate – each received £250. The money for Cruse came from JPS while the Rotarians made a donation to the CWCF.

Both charities have been chosen among the seven beneficiaries from the Lion Farms charity barbecue held two weeks ago at Mr Sheikh Abid Gulzar’s farm on Wartling Road, Pevensey.

The two donations of £250 was intended to cover the cost of representatives, members and friends of the two charities attending the barbecue.

But Mr Gulzar decided to waive the costs so the money was donated directly to the two charities.

John Wilton, President of Eastbourne Sovereign Rotary Club, said, “We have supported the Children with Cancer Fund for a long time and when asked we were delighted to sponsor their members going to the barbecue.

Mr Gulzar said, ‘The barbecue was a wonderful occasion and thanks to JPS and Eastbourne Sovereign Rotary Club the total amount raised was increased.”
